" D.S. KONKLE DIES SUNDAY IN ST. PETERSBURG
St. Petersburg - Donald S. Konkle Sr., 68, of St. Petersburg, died suddenly at 11:30 p.m. Sunday. He was a retired dewax operator for 36 years at the Quaker State in Emlenton. Born July 21, 1899 in Callensburg, he was the son of Robert Frank and Mary Saxton Konkle. He was affiliated with the St. Petersburg Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 636 of Foxburg. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in France with Company F-110, infantry regiment, 28th Infantry Division. Surviving is his wife, the former Gladys Dunkle, two sons, Donald Jr. of St. Petersburg, Richard H., Kent, Ohio, one daughter, Mrs. Carlos (Jean) Klingler of Emlenton, his mother, Mary, of St. Petersburg, and one brother, Walter of Apollo. Three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Lila) Rutter of Turtlecreek, Mrs. Russell (Mary) Fultz of Detroit and Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Smith of Pittsburg and ten grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters and a brother. Friends are being received at the Karle D. McKinney Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Interment will be in the St. Petersburg Cemetery."
