William "Bill" David Bailey

Mr. Bailey, 91, of Charlotte passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born September 4, 1916 in Charlotte to the late William James and Ellie Helms Bailey.

He was also preceded in death by wives Mary Mangum and Doris Liner Eddings and a son William 'Bill' Curtis Bailey, USAF.

Mr. Bailey had worked for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, Charlotte Linen Company and was retired with disability from Duke Power Company.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #380.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy and wife Jody of Spartanburg, SC, Robert 'Bob' and wife Ruth of Mooresville, NC, Richard of Monroe, NC, Bill and wife Valarie of Tampa FL; three daughters, Mary Coley of Mint Hill, NC, Gloria and husband Jack Green of Ranlo, NC, Yvonne and husband Jim Ewing of Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy 'J' Bailey, Jr., Caleb Robinson, Jessie Vannoy, Mike Bailey, Jody Green and, Rick Green.

A service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service with the Rev. Danny Garrett of Spartanburg, SC officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
