On July 3, 1902, Earl Hebert was born to David Toussaint Hebert (1862-1946) and Jeanette Neveu Hebert (1864-1943) in Bay City, Michigan. He lived his early years in Bay City and Ecorse with his brothers Jim (1898-1954), Floyd (1900-1978), and George (1889-1965). Earl lived most of his life in Michigan and gradually worked his way into politics. He served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1948 to 1954. He was an Ecorse Village Trustee in 1940-41 and a City Councilman in 1942-45. He had been active in the tavern business for many years and was elected president of the Michigan Table Top. Earl graduated from Ecorse High School and was a long time resident of Fair Haven. He was also active in the campaigns of President John F. Kennedy and Governor G. Mennen Williams. He retired to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he lived most of his remaining years. He left this life on June 1, 1991. His first wife, the former Helen Lloyd, is deceased. His marriage to the former Ruby Carluk ended in divorce. In addition to his daughter Jane and son David, he is survived by his four grandsons – Matthew David Hebert, John Robert Earl Hebert, Sean Kiem, and Chris Kiem. We remember our father and grandfather Earl Hebert not only for his accomplishments in life but the cherished times in which we shared his joy of politics and good friends, golf, fishing for perch on Anchor Bay, and listening to his beloved Detroit Tigers on the radio.
