Charles Luther Mason, 80, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Pardee Hospital. He was a native of Walker County, Ala., and lived in Acton, Mass., before retiring to Hendersonville in 1984. He was a son of the late Elsie Flippo Mason and Charlie Cleophus Mason. He retired from Raytheon Company in Lexington, Mass., as corporate director of Value Engineering in August 1983. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eleanor A. Mason; two brothers, Clarence Mason of Townley, Ala., and George Mason of Macon, Ga.; three sisters, Elizabeth Miles of Calera, Ala., Faye Dubose of Docena, Ala., and Sue Gaddy of Birmingham, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Craig Mason of Chesapeake, Va., and Susan Haley of San Rafael, Calif. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, N.C. Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514-1508
