Samuel Forest Gregory, Sr., age 77, died Friday in Pulaski Community Hospital.
Born July 19, 1914 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late William F. Gregory and Helen Meredith Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Gibbs Gregory.
He was active in the Republican party, was a previous member of the New River Valley Rescue Squad and was also active in civic affairs.
Surviving are one son, Samuel Forest Gregory, Jr., of Dublin; three daughters, Mrs. James (Maxine) Harlan of Camden, N.J., Mrs. Sam (Alva) Skeens of Pulaski and Mrs. Charles (Roberta) Jordan of Southern Pines, N.C.; one brother, William F. Gregory of Thomasville, N.C., 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 pm today at Thomas Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Patterson and the Rev. Maynard Powell officiating.
Burial will follow in Thornspring Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday evening at the Thomas Seagle & Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New River Valley Rescue Squad or the Pulaski County Rescue Squad.
