Mr. Christians was born Sept. 3, 1869 in Ostfriesland, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Christians, coming to America in 1886. He and Meta Johanna Siemer were married Sept 19, 1899 in Lyon county, Iowa.
He farmed for 35 years on a place five miles north of Ellsworth, moving into Ellsworth in November 1947. He had served as an elder of his church for 28 years.
He is survived by one son, Ernest, Ellsworth; four daughters, Martha Christians, Ellsworth; Mrs. Jake Solma (Emma), Holland; Mrs. Egbert Kruze (Alma), Elbow Lake, and Mrs. Jake Timmer (Esther), Rock Rapids, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June 5, 1931, and one son, Carl.
