Joseph B. Hanna was born August 1, 1868 in Barton, Tioga County, NY. His parents were Charles and Harriet Ellis Hanna. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and the Elmira School of Commerce. He was a carpenter by trade.
He married his first wife, Myra Brink, in December 1891. She died in October 1925. On December 25, 1929 he married his second wife, Maude Perry of Heuvelton and he and Maude lived in Heuvelton from then on.
Joseph was a member of the Heuvelton Methodist church. He was survied by two daughters, Myra Freisem, and Frances Kelsey; also nine grandchildren, a niece and nephew, and several cousins.
