Grace B. Shatto, 71, of East Wenatchee, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.

She was born in Cosby, TN on Jan. 9, 1931, to Algie LeCrone. Grace was schooled in Staten Island, NY. She moved to Texas and married John J. Bement Feb. 14, 1946. They had two children. They moved to Fairfield, ID after John was discharged from the 82nd and 101st Airborne. After his death in April of 1959, Grace and children moved to Boise, ID, where she married Claude C. Shatto in September of 1960.

In 1963, she received her license and served as a minister with the Assembly of God and later with the Church of God. She traveled with her husband, Claude, in the ministry throughout the United States and Canada as the Singing Evangelists. Her ministry spanned 31 years at her husband's side through three pastorships, including being appointed as the Assistant Pastor and Counselor of the Wenatchee Church of God. After retiring from the Wenatchee Church of God, Grace started a Ladies Ministry, held at The Four Seasons Restaurant for four years. She was an accomplished singer and musician, continuing to be the organist at the Wenatchee Church of God, until shortly before her death.

Grace is survived by her husband, Claude C. Shatto; son, John H. Bement; daughter, Diana B. Kent; three stepchildren, Loretta J. Goetting, Claude E. Shatto and Calvin R. Shatto.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the "angels" from Hospice for their gentle care and consideration.

Funeral Services will be held at New Life Center Church of God, 310 5th St. N.E., East Wenatchee, Saturday, March 16, 2002, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ron Hodges officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
