Mrs. Eliza Jane (Casterline) Marshall was born in Sussex, County, New Jersey, February 11, 1810. Phineas Casterline Sr. & Eleanore (Ellen) Molly Havens were parents of Eliza Jane, as well as several other children. Eliza Jane was the oldest.

She was married June 28, 1828 to Moses Marshall and in 1852 moved to Ingham County, Michigan, where she died, March 26, 1887, in the 78th year of her age.

She was the mother of 10 children, 6 of whom survive her, and are among the first in society and "well-to-do". It may well be said of her, "She was a mother in the fullest sense of the term." She was baptized 17 years ago and united with the Baptist Church, and has ever since lived a trusting, confiding Christian life.

She suffered much during the last few weeks of her life with that terrible disease, gangrene; but her faith was sufficient for the occasion and she left behind the evidence that her Redeemer lives, and because He lives, she will live also.

Funeral services at the Baptist Church, conducted by J. Gunderman, assisted by the pastor, R.A McConell. Text: II Timothy 4:7. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith."

"Mother, thy work on earth is done, Thy work in heaven has just begun.
We'll join thee on the other shore, To sing His praise forevermore."
