She was born on June 3, 1921 in Tonasket to parents Ira and Maggie Henderson, the youngest of five children. Lucile was raised on her family farm near Havillah, attending the Molson and Tonasket schools, graduating from Tonasket High School in 1938. She met her husband, Roy, at a Sunday School pie social in 1938, and they were married on Jan. 18, 1940, in Oroville. They farmed in the Kipling area for ten years.
