WINNIE JOHNSON
Winnie Katherine Johnson, 66, of Reece, died at Via Christi-Saint Francis Medical Center in Wichita on Monday, October 4, 1999.
She was born near Virgil on April, 17, 1933, the daughter of Johner Nathaniel and Edith (Bohard) McCoy. She was raised in the Virgil area and attended Virgil schools.
On October 28, 1948, she married
Balva L. "Roy" Clark in Eureka and the couple had eight children. She and her husband later divorced and she moved to California and resided there for many years. She returned to Newton in 1973 and moved to Eureka in 1974.
On February 9, 1979, she was united in marriage to George W. Johnson at Newkirk, Okla. They have made their home in the Reece community since that time. She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband George of the home in Reece; six sons, Robert Clark of Americus, James and Jerry Clark both of Eureka, Larry Clark and Paul Clark both of
Reece and Cecil Clark of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Galbreath of Ferrysburg, Mich.; two step-sons, Charles Johnson of Wichita and Michael Johnson of Reece; two brothers, Danny McCoy of Hugoton, La., and Raymond McCoy of Emporia; four sisters, Alice Lamb of Americus, Frances Smith of Towanda, Opal Hoyt of Topeka and Dorothy Guzman of Pinon Hills, Calif.; 32 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, a son Carl Clark, a step-daughter Carolyn Sue Carroll and one grandson preceded her in death.
Funeral services will beheld at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, at the Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka with the Reverend Wallace Wartick officiating. Interment will follow at the Reece Cemetery at Reece.
A memorial has been established in her name with the American Heart Association Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
