Darlington - Elmer A. "Jack" Maxwell, 76, died Monday morning in Culver Hospital, where he had been a patient seven days. He had been seriously ill 10 days.
Mr. Maxwell was a drainage contracter for several years before his retirement in 1961. He was a member of Garfield Church and had attended Garfield schools.
He was born Aug. 10, 1902 in Boone County mear Thorntown, a son of Alexander C. and Minnie Steffler Maxwell. He lived in Montgomery County most of his life.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Caroline) Horine of Anderson and Mrs. Amy Hulvey of Darlington; and two brothers, Lawrence A. Maxwell of Anderson and Ralph L. Maxwell of near Darlington. He is preceded in death by seven brothers.
