Marie Maxwell, 63 of Darlington died 3:45 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hosp at Lafayette. She had been ill 3 years and hospitalized 1 week. Mrs. Maxwell was a life-long resident of Darlington. She was a member of Youngs Chapel Christian Church and Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary Number 302. She was born in Montgomery County April 25, 1899 the daughter of James and Joan Conrad Evans. She married Osion (Austin) Caswell Maxwell on Nov 11, 1916 at Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death in April 1941. Surviving are a son Marvin of Darlington; 6 grandchidlren and 5 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to the husband were two sons, Delbert and Maj. Raymond Maxwell the latter killed in Korea in 1950; a sister, a brother and a half-brother. Services conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Russel-Hitch Funeral Home at Thorntown with Rev Paul Mcalister officiating. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in Darlington.
