Mrs. Susan Jane Watkins Werth, 92, was found dead in bed at the home of her son, William H. Werth, prominent Tazewell attorney, this morning. She evidently had been dead several hours. She suffered a slight illness Saturday from which she apparently hadn't recovered. Surviving are the son, with whom she lived here, another, John McCrea Werth,of Credo, W. V., and two daughters, Mrs. C. C. Hodson of Blythe, Cal., and Mrs. Janie W. Shriber, of Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be conducted at the Werth home Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Werth was born at Greenwood Plantation, near Martinsville, Va., October 21, 1839, and was remarkably active for her age, being able until a few days ago to make her way about the town unassisted. She was the widow of Colonel William H. Werth, an officer in the Confederate Army, who died soon after the close of the War Between the States. Mrs. Werth is survived by several relatives in Martinsville and Henry county, Va.




She applied for a Widows' pension in Montgomery County
