GALENA, Kan. — Mrs. Nellie Jane Moore, 77, Galena route 2, died at 7:47 a.m. Friday at St John’s Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.

Mrs. Moore was born June 15, 1903, in Galena, and was a lifetime resident. She was an employee of the American Laundry in Joplin until 1987. She married William Martin Moore May 8, 1924, in Joplin. He died Jan. 23, 1961.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Moore and Bill Moore, both of Galena; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Waggener and Mrs. Ollie Moore, both of Galena; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home. The Rev. Cecil Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bob Scott, Howard Litch, Scott Shaw, Jack Stickleman, David Scott and Bud Hutchings.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

GALENA, Kan.—William Martin Moore, 76, Galena route 2, died at 9:20 o'clock Tuesday morning at Veterans Administration hospital at Fayetteville, Ark., where he had been a patient two weeks. He was born at Cottonwood Falls, Kan., in 1891 and had resided in Galena 70 years.

He was married to Nellie Jane White in 1924 at Joplin, Mo. In addition to his widow he is survived by two sons, Billy Moore and Carl Moore, both of Galena; a brother, Tom Moore of Galena route 2; two sisters, Mrs. Etha Newcomer of Galena and Mrs. Ruth White of Galena route 1, and four grandchildren.

GALENA, Kan. Carl Raymond Moore, age 79, 7727 SE 86th Street, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at St Johns Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following an illness.

He was born Jan. 13, 1927, at Galena and had lived here all of his life.

His parents were William Martin and Nellie Jane (White) Moore.

He worked as an equipment operator at American Laundry in Joplin, for 33 years, retiring in 1984.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Among his hobbies were gardening, fishing and hunting.

Carl was married to Lillian Gustene Gailey on June 27, 1956, in Goodman, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Janet Darnaby and husband, Ron and Pat Moore, both of Galena; one brother, Bill Moore, Baxter Springs, Kan.; three grandsons, Matt Darnaby and wife, Megan, Adam Darnaby and Aaron Darnaby; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Darnaby and infant Madelynn Grace Darnaby whose birth is expected on Wednesday.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena. Rev. Richard Nichols will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
