Born Dec. 31, 1907, in Coral, he was the son of Almond and Alice Dickinson Stout. He was a longtime resident of Ionia area, retiring in 1972 from the Ionia County Courthouse where he worked in maintenance.
He was a member of the Palo United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Ronald Grange.
His wife, Ethel, died march 28, 1972. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth Merriman, in 1987, and by two brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Aldrich, whom he married Sept. 22, 1973; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Merriman, Lowell; a son and daughter-in-law, Alton and Doris Stout, Fenwick; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lincoln (Dorothy) Dygert, Ionia, Mrs. Pete (Lillian) Garland, Mecosta; a sister, Mrs. Cloise (Ruth) Sinclair, Sheridan; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchuildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, one step great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. James Cook at 2 p.m. Friday at Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home, Sheridan, with burial in Sunny Hill, Cemetery near Palo.
The family will meet with relatives and friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
