Margaret was the daughter of Jacob Buttram and Margaret Josephine Wilson Buttram.

She married James Philander Henderson in about 1870.

Margaret and J P Henderson had ten children:
1. Robert Edgar Henderson
2. William Ollie Henderson (1875-1878) he died at Sugar Grove, Logan County, Arkansas)
3. Mattie Josephine Henderson Baker
4. Jacob Granville Henderson
5. George Grover Henderson (1844-1944) he died in Seaside, Monterey County, California)
6. James Berry Henderson
7. James Eagle Henderson
8. Frank Talmadge Henderson (1890-1989)
9. Sue Henderson Bartlett
10. Dr Finis Ewing Henderson



Funeral Services were held at her home in Amarillo, Texas with th Rev. V. H. Fisher officating. Song selections were "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee" rendered by the San Jacinto Methodist Choir. A mothers day letter from Finis E Henderson was read. Pall Bearers were: Houston Taylor, George Thompson, H. G. Baker, Odell Harris, S. T. Hudson, and Gus Hensley.
