Obituary for Joan Agnete Duncan Ossman from Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. (Arlington Heights, Cook Co., Illinois):

Joan Agnete Ossman

July 21, 1944 - May 28, 2016

Joan Agnete Ossman was born July 21, 1944 in Kingston, NC to Alfred and Helen (nee Jensen) Duncan. She died May 28, 2016 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, NV.

Joan lived most of her young life in Elmhurst, Illinois. She graduated from York High School and after, attended Wright Junior College. While in school Joan enjoyed being involved in plays, synchronized swimming and was a member of a Can-Can dance group called the Parkside Gutter Girls. Joan was a member of the Girl Scouts for 20 years, both as a scout and as a leader.

Joan has been a longtime member of the St. Simon's women's bowling league which has afforded her the opportunity to make many lifelong friendships. She has traveled for tournaments all over the country with her team. She also was very fond of BINGO and played whenever she was offered the opportunity. Joan was self-employed, owning the embroidery business Creative Monograms. She was known to stay up many a night to get products "just perfect" for her customers.

Joan was known as being a great cook and had a strong passion for preparing multi-course meals, from scratch. She seemed to be happiest when she had a house full of family and friends she could cook for. Every cooking surface in her kitchen was covered with some delectable dish she created. Those who knew Joan knew her best for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

(Ted) Johnson; her grandchildren Paige Dunlavy, Bryce Johnson and Margaret Johnson; her sister in law Linda Duncan, her brother and sister in laws Camille and Edward Ossman; as well as nieces and nephews David Thomas (Jessica) Duncan, Susan Ossman, Linda (Jim) Crowson, Mary Martinez, Kathy Ossman, Laura Francis and Julie (Roger) Warren.
