The Life and Legacy of Retired ABH1 Petty Officer First Class Guy D. Auguste, Sr.

Guy D. Auguste, Sr. was born on November 4, 1948 to Clement Dadin Auguste and Marie Catherine Aneda Charles in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On Sunday, October 29th, 2023 at 3:20 p.m. with his loving wife, all of his children, and sister by his side at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida, God called him home.

Guy D. Auguste, Sr. is survived by his wife of forty-seven (47) years, Immacula; his children Marie, Shirley, Joann, Guy Jr. and Patricia, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild , 2 sisters, one brother and a host of nephews and nieces.

Guy D. Auguste. was a devoted husband, loving father, adored grandfather, caring brother and uncle, and cherished friend. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who approached life with unwavering determination. He started from humble beginnings by coming to the United States at the age of 14 years old and working hard. He joined the Navy in 1973 and made it a career for over twenty-three years. From 1996 till the end, he worked at his different passions of flipping houses, doing repairs in homes, traveling, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family members, and friends while enjoying life.

He took immense pride in providing for his family and always strived to make their lives better. He loved and ensured his wife was well taken care of and was grateful for the 47 years they had together. He loved his four daughters and one son very much and raised them to be strong-willed and self-determined. He believed in teaching all of his children and those he mentored how to work hard, set high expectations, learning how to do things to be self-sufficient, and standing up for family. He believed in family.

He loved and adored each of his thirteen grandchildren and his newest great grandchild. Each grandchild had a special place in his heart. He knew his legacy would live on through them. The grandchildren loved their grandparents, and it would always bring a smile on his face when he was able to speak with them. He had a special relationship with each one.

He was a real handyman and a true Boy Scout. He was always prepared for any disaster and made sure his wife and children knew how to do repairs in the home and cars. In addition to his strong work ethic and zest for life, Guy was a man who truly enjoyed life. He had an infectious enthusiasm for fun and adventure. Whether it was a family outing to visit family in New York, North Carolina, Canada, a get-together with friends, or a simple moment of joy, Guy had a way of making every experience special.

Guy loved dancing, swimming, ping pong, was a master racquetball player, playing dominoes, and a Haitian game called Bezigue. He loved to celebrate life and would find any opportunity to have a party and fire up the grill. His parties were epic and one that all who knew him would remember. He treasured his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, siblings, niece/nephews, family, and friends. His warmth and infectious joy of life touched the lives of many.

Guy D. Auguste's legacy is a testament to the love and joy he brought into the world. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Guy, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, and caring brother and uncle and friend.
