PEARL HOUSER Pearl Emirth Houser, 84, of Newton, died June 14, 2001, at her residence after a period of declining health.


Born July 14, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Adolphus E. and Mary Ellen Buff Robinson.


She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hickory.


She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Houser; four brothers, Roy Robinson, Oscar Robinson, John Robinson and Marvin Robinson; and four sisters, Estelle Peeler, Versie Lail, Willie Houser and Elizabeth Robinson.


Survivors include her husband, Hugh L. Houser; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Eileen Houser of Harrisburg, Gene and Carolyn Houser of Hickory and Brad and Kim Farrar of Marion; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Tonia and Mike Macchia of Hudson, Mary Beaverson of Conover, Faye and Robbie Ward and Kaye and Larry Gales of Hickory and Dib and Bob Chambers of Apex; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Bert Dixon at 4 p.m. Sunday at her church.

Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rick Houser, Jeff Houser, Scott Houser, Mark Houser, Roman Brendle, Gerry Beaverson, Mike Ward, Rod Ward, Todd Ward and Brad Farrar.


The family will be at Catawba Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1485, Hickory, N.C. 28603 or Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.
