Edward A. Peterson Sr., 89, of Elizabeth Township, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. He was born April 22, 1926, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Arthur and Mildred Peterson. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and worked for Westinghouse Airbrake, U.S. Steel, Dravo Corp. and Rust Engineering. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; sons, Edward Jr. (Heide), of Madison, Ala., and Glenn W., of Dormont; grandchildren, Christian and Elizabeth Ann; and sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Peterson, of White Oak. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence "Al". Mr. Peterson served in the Army and Merchant Marines and was a member of McKeesport Masonic Lodge No. 375. Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK, 1100 Lincoln Way, PA 15131, 412-678-6177, where Masonic service will be held at 4:30 p.m., followed by prayer service at 5 p.m., with the Rev. Warren Smith. Contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors Fund or St. John Lutheran Church, McKeesport.
