William Perry Baker was born on February 13, 1910, to Edith and Paul Baker in St. Louis,
Missouri. He would go on to attend college somewhere in New York and attain his bachelor's
degree. He would then go on to work as a retail manager for S.S. Kresge in Patchogue, New
York. In 1934, he married Christine Barber in New Rochelle, New York.
He entered the U.S. Army on the 31st of October 1941. He completed OCS at Fort Benning,
Georgia. In the Army, he would serve as a 2136 non-tactical unit officer in the Infantry
Replacement Training Center at Fort Mc Mcellen, Alabama. In this role, he supported the war
effort stateside by supervising the administration of military personnel assigned to this
Replacement Training Center.
His father passed during his service in 1943 and was buried in Wisconsin. Baker would
eventually attain the rank of Major by the time he was discharged in January of 1946. It was
during his service that his first child was born. His daughter was born in 1944, and
his son was born in 1947. After having served for the entirety of World War Two, he would
move to Colorado with his wife and children.
Following his service, he continued to serve his country through his work as a Research Officer
for the Veterans Administration in Denver, Colorado. Following his job at the VA he then
worked as a Field Representative for the Social Security Administration. His mother would pass
in 1967 and be buried alongside his father in Wisconsin, and his Wife would pass in 1982.
William passed away on August 19, 1996, in Denver, Colorado.
