Born in Lancaster, OH Delbert R. "Del" Bontrager, 89 of Lancaster, Ohio, departed from his Earthly home on December 23, 2021 to live in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born to the late Clark and Edna (Daubenmire) Bontrager on June 23, 1932 and graduated from Lancaster High School, class of 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Princeton Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict. 


Del was employed several years as a design engineer with North American Rockwell Aviation, Wasserstrom Co., and retired from Mirror Insulation at Diamond Power Specialty Corp., as a contracts administrator. He designed airplane parts, stainless steel cabinetry and stainless-steel jackets for nuclear reactors. Delbert was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. 


Delbert is preceded in death by his infant grandson, Trevor William Bontrager, parents, 3 brothers, Joseph and wife, Lettie, Emerson, and Robert; 3 sisters and their families, Hazel Potts Albertini, her first husband James V. Potts and their son, James Michael Potts; Julia and Elmer Ricketts and her first husband, Francis Kilbarger, and their sons, Gary and Paul Kilbarger; Marietta and Delbert Ash, and their daughter, Linda Kay Ash.


Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Sheridan Funeral Home, 222 S. Columbus St. Service conducted at 11:30 a.m. by the Lancaster Masonic Lodge. Military rites will be conducted by the Lancaster Veterans' Burial Detail at Forest Rose Cemetery following the service.
