Debra "Debbie" Jean Deutscher, age 70, of Hobart, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at VNA Hospice of Valparaiso, IN. Debbie was born in LaPorte IN to Daniel and Lois Deutscher on October 19, 1951.


She went to River Forest High School in New Chicago, IN, graduating in 1969. Debbie went on to Ball State University and graduated with a teaching degree in 1973. She then changed careers and went to work at Midwest Steel in Burns Harbor, and retired on disability after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Debbie enjoyed traveling to Europe, art, teaching, reading, poetry, wine and swimming. She will be greatly missed.


Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-Karen Burge, Cindy Jones; niece-Kimberly Kehoe. She is survived by her sisters; brothers; nieces and nephews.


Visitation for Debbie will be Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart. Cremation to follow service.
