Walter F. Bohnenkamp, 68, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on November 24, 2000. He was born on May 14, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Filmore & Bertha (Studler) Bohnenkamp. Walter married Geraldine G. Steimel on August 1, 1964 in St. Clair, Missouri.Mr. Bohnenkamp worked for 30 years as a Journeyman Union Carpenter, retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class and was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Service Stars. Walter enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Arizona.Surviving are his wife; daughters Tina Bohnenkamp of Port Orchard and Connie Bohnenkamp Cooper of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters Emma Lamm of St. Charles, Missouri, Ethel Roman of St. Louis, Missouri, and Celina Aubachon of St. Louis, Missouri; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters June Martin & Bertha Rose Bohnenkamp, 3 brothers Roy, Louis & Lee Bohnenkamp.Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2000 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, November 30, 2000 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard. Interment will follow at 1:00pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.
