Mrs. Bettie Holmes, 79, former Marshall resident, died about 12:30 P.M. Monday at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. She was visiting at the time of her death with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Holland, 3005 S. Adams, Fort Worth.

Services are to be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rains-Talley and Cothron Chapel. The Rev. Harold Fagan, pastor of the First Methodist Church, is to officiate. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are to be Alvin Brazil, Luke Woodley, Roderick Warfield Jr., Grady Reeves, Johnny Evans, Scotty Hamilton.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Texas on Jan 18, 1883, the daughter of George Edward Hamilton and Mrs. Elizabeth Scruggs Hamilton. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Marshall. Her husband, J. K. Holmes, a long time employee of the Texas and Pacific Railway, died in 1957. They made their home at 1309 East Houston.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. H. H. Worley, Odessa; Mrs. C. F. Hill, Barnwell, S. C.; Mrs. Helen Holland, Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Seth Russell, Holden-ville, Okla; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Greenwood Cemetery
