Regiment: 2nd Regiment of Life Guards (Cavalry). Service: c.1834 - 8 Apr 1862 (Military Pension).

There is no record available of him being promoted above Private.

Army pensioner and valet, George Smith, was the father of Jack the Ripper victim, Annie Chapman.

He committed suicide on the morning of the 13th June 1863 at the Elephant and Castle public house, which was situated on Charles Street in Wrexham City Centre, Wales. He was buried the same day in the Wrexham Old Cemetery. Please refer to the attached press report for further details.
