WASHINGTON, DC Scott R. Houck, 50, formerly of Hanover, en tered into God's eternal care Thursday, May 15, 2008, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Born July 8, 1957, in Hanover, he was the son of Robert S. and Helen R. (Palmer) Houck of Hanover. Scott was a 1975 graduate of Hanover High School and a 1979 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Secondary Education w/Mathematics teaching option. Scott earned his Master of Science Degree in Computer Science-Software Systems from George Washington University in 1990. Scott retired early from Fannie Mae Financial/Mortgage in Washington, D.C., as a Principal Developer/Senior Developer. Scott was proficient in four languages, French, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew. He also studied Italian, German, Polish, Czech, and Arabic. He taught Hebrew at the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. Scott was an active member of the Campus Crusade for Christ. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are one sister, Susan Bell of Hanover; one brother, Stephen D. Houck of Clermont, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, officiated by the Rev. Daniel Summers. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
