Douglas H. Sinrud passed away peacefully with his family by his side, holding his hands, on Christmas Eve. We know Dad made it Home for Christmas. Doug was bigger than life with an amazingly warm smile, a huge loving hug, and a twinkle in his eyes. He was loving, loyal, and faithful. We, Doug's family were so blessed to have him as our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend, Role- Model, Mentor, and Guiding Star. He began life in Coeur d'Alene Idaho on September 9th, 1940 to Douglas H. Sr. and Frances Sinrud. He grew up north of Seattle, then moved to Montana to raise a family in the Bitterroot Valley. He was in California for a short time before moving back to Washington after Genie, his first love, passed away.

A few years later he fell in love and married his newfound love, Carlee! They were great travel companions and traveled the country making three laps around the United States after retiring. Next, they settled down in Yuma, Arizona, where many dear friends were made as they helped grow the Knights of Columbus Council 8305, St. John Neumann's Parish in the Foothills. Dad knew time was running short and wanted to be back home in Montana with his family, so they moved back home in April. Dad was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years and part of Council 10576 for a short time. He loved to say with a big smile on his face, he didn't have to pay dues anymore! He was the former Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator in Yuma and brought countless people to Christ. He was never afraid to say what he thought and felt about his Faith, or anything else for that matter! It has been a blessing to have Mom and Dad back home. We enjoyed all the family time, Sunday dinners, cribbage games, talks, drives, and love. This year's Thanksgiving was the best in a long time with Mom and Dad home. Dad's greatest accomplishment and testament to his life, faith, and love, is the legacy he has left on this world, with eight grandsons, five granddaughters, four great grandsons, and two great granddaughters.

Dad truly loved his family, his parish family, and being surrounded by everyone he loved. Dad was a Man's man and he could talk to anyone and everyone. He taught us that everyone should be treated with respect until they proved otherwise. He taught us to pray with your whole heart and soul and if you needed guidance, to pray about it, and more importantly to listen for the answer.

Dad was an amazing person; he rebuilt a home practically by himself when theirs burnt to the ground in Corvallis. He could handle customers at the counter, two phones, and two kids "helping him" behind the counter of his auto parts store all with a smile, and everyone felt they were getting attention. He rebuilt the youth baseball program in Bitterroot and was instrumental in getting the Legion program started there. He raised cattle, horses, chickens, rabbits, and pigs all the while raising and providing for his family. Once he rode his Goldwing from Seattle to Savannah in three days, dad loved the saddle! After being on the road, he discovered he loved genealogy and he was a master at it. He could find genealogy tidbits others could not and was hired to do so quite often. Dad loved kids so much, in Yuma he was a great advocate for the A.M.E.N. group and, being the consummate salesman, sold pavers in the Church Memorial Garden at St. John Newmann parish. We will miss you Dad and we love you very much! You'll do great in Heaven!

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles, his first wife Genie, nephew Stephen, and son-in-law John Caspersen. He is survived by his siblings, sons and daughter, with eight grandsons, five granddaughters, four great grandsons, and two great granddaughters. Of course, many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends spread throughout North America.
