R.D. Pete McCallie was one of a kind, His laugh would light up any room and if you ever met him you would never forget his wonderful personality, He was my uncle and I loved him dearly. Pete as he was known to family & friends was a welder and in his younger days worked on several pipelines, I worked with him in and around Wetumka and about daylight every morning he wasn't hard to find just go to the Ranch-O-Tel cafe and follow the laughter and there he would be surrounded by all the waitresses and others having a merry old time. Pete was the fifth of five children born to Ross Denton Sr. & Ida Belle Grissom McCallie, Pete was the grandson of John Henry & Martha Ann Long McCallie and Samuel Elexander & Julia Ann Kent Grissom, Also great grandson of William T. & Mary Ann Hanks McCallie and Joseph Augustus & Elizabeth Brock Grissom. (note Mary Ann Hanks was a 2nd cousin to Nancy Hanks the mother of Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the United States).
Pete married Shirley Bernice Ramsey June 05, 1938 in Weleetka, Okfuskee Co, Oklahoma and to this marriage three children were born all girls, their oldest Peggy Lee McCallie Parker, 2nd June Ellen McCallie Howard, 3rd Susan Kathleen McCallie.
Shirley Bernice Ramsey McCallie or Jackie as she was called by family & friends passed away January 08, 2005 and is buried beside Pete in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weleetka (Okfuskee County) Oklahoma.
Pete married Shirley Bernice Ramsey June 05, 1938 in Weleetka, Okfuskee Co, Oklahoma and to this marriage three children were born all girls, their oldest Peggy Lee McCallie Parker, 2nd June Ellen McCallie Howard, 3rd Susan Kathleen McCallie.
