In loving memory of Alison Ivy Bruington (nee Rochin), 81, whose homegoing to heaven was on January 25, 2024, in Lacey, Washington. She was born on July 1, 1942, in San Pedro, California, to the late Lester H. and Margaret W. Rochin.

Alison is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela (Tim), and her caring son, Mark (Elizabeth). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Chris (Melissa), Aaron (Caitlin), Aidan, Ava, Alexandra, Ryan; and her great-grandchildren, Carter and Bennett. Alison is also survived by her two remaining brothers and a sister, as well by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and loved ones. She was predeceased by one of her younger sisters, Peggy.

Alison was preceded in death, five years to the week, by her beloved husband, Ray Dean Bruington, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. They were married at Fort Ord Army Base (Monterey), California, on October 20, 1962. Theirs was an enduring love story!

Alison was a dedicated and compassionate educator. She received her teaching credential from San Francisco State University and her M.Ed. from Shasta Bible College. Alison will be remembered for her kindness, patience, determination, and lasting impact she made during her time teaching Kindergarten through Second grade students. After she retired from teaching in public schools, she shared her love of teaching by being an instructor and mentor teacher for the credential program through University of Phoenix. She was an advocate and outstanding tutor for dyslexia students also.

Alison loved traveling and was dedicated to serving the Lord. Alison and Ray's marriage was filled with adventure, always ready to camp with the grandkids, hook up their trailer, or jump on an Amtrak train to travel cross-country to visit with family and friends. They loved serving at church and spent many years being a part of Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center and Canby Grove Christian Center. Alison also found joy in swimming, knitting, watching old movies, baking pies, and making jam.

Alison was adored by many and affectionately known as the "Energizer Bunny!" She is remembered for her love of life and energetic, spunky personality. She had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her servant's heart brought joy and guidance to everyone she knew. Her kind and caring nature will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family is arranging a Celebration of Life gathering for both Ray and Alison in June in the Santa Cruz/Monterey area. More details will be available soon [redc ated for privacy]
