Elizabeth (Betty) Marie Alfred Lee, 82, of Houston, Texas (born and raised in Tyler) passed away on December 2, 2011, in the presence of her two daughters.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Lee will be Tuesday, December 6 at 1:30 p.m., at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow, at Bascom Cemetery.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother sister and aunt. She loved music and as a young woman was the organist/pianist at Cedar Street Methodist Church in Tyler and later at Westbury Baptist in Houston. She was an avid sports fan and was almost always there to cheer for her grandchildren at their games, band performances and dance recitals. Betty was a receptionist at Vinson & Elkins Law Firm for 15 years and took great pride in the way she worked her desk.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ross and Elizabeth Alfred; brother, William (Billy) Ross Alfred; and sister, Patsy Ruth Alfred Bryans.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Jeffery Lee and wife, Janet; two daughters, Sharon Miller and husband, Ken, and Karen Lee; one brother, Howard (Slick) Alfred and wife, Mary Alice; grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Alicia and husband, Nate, Jacob, Laura and Stephen; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
