John Tyler Dorrell was born March 8, 1856, in Leavenworth county, Kansas and departed this life, July 7, 1929 aged 73 years, 4 months and 4 days, at the home of his daughter, Jennie Robertson, McLouth, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Martha Catherine Messersmith, October 27, 1876. Six children were born to this union. Two died in infancy and the mother passed away in 1887. His second marriage was Harriet White, on March 1, 1888. Only one child was born to this union. This wife passed away in 1889. His third marriage was to Myriah Isabell Langwell, on July 7, 1890. Seven children were born to his union, two dying in infancy. His wife and nine children survive. Mrs. Mary Zoucha, Oswego, Ks; Mrs. Jennie Robertson, McLouth, Kan.; George Dorrell; Highland, Ks.; John Dorrell, Pueblo, Co; Clarence Dorrell; KC,MO; Mrs. Eva Wagner; Centerville, MO; Mrs. Bessie Kelley, KC, KS; Mrs. Lennie Hogan; Chicago, Ill; Hugh Dorrell, KC,MO. He leaves to morn his loss thirty-six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Robertson, McLouth, Kansas, conducted by Rev. C.F. Ruhlen. Burial was made in the Easton cemetery.
