Born in Ashley, he was the son of the late Martin and Catherine (Wnotzec) Mika. He attended Penn State Extension School, Wilkes-Barre. After World War II, he was a body and fender instructor at G.I. Schools and a welder at Foster Wheeler Corp., Mountiantop. He was also the proprietor of Helen's Horseshoe Bar, Ashley, and Pine View Inn, Nuangola. He was a member of St. Mary's Maternity Church, Wilkes-Barre.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Ralph, and sisters, Edna Uhlatoski and Sophie Bogut.
