Julia Ann (nee Musgrave) Stockton

OBITUARY

Julia A. Stockton, or rather known as Grandma Stockton, was born April 19, 1832 in Hopkins Co. Ky., and died at the home of her son, W. S. Stockton. July 21, 1912 at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 12 days.

With her parents, R. J. and Margaret Musgrave she moved from Kentucky to Hamilton Co. Il. in 1842*. She was married to Joseph M. Stockton in 1854. To this union was born 5 sons and 2 daughters. Her husband, 2 sons and 2 daughters preceded her to the other world, leaving 3 sons, 26 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

Grandma Stockton has been a faithful christian and faithful worker in the Masters cause all her life. She was prepared for the change and being conscious to the last, she offered her praise to God.

She had been confined to her bed almost 5 years and blind over 3 years and through it all was patient to the end. She was a pioneer settler of Oklahoma, having helped organize the first Sunday School in this part of the country. Her life was an inspiration to all about her. The funeral was conducted at Eden Chapel by C. A. Strickland, many friends and neighbors and relatives speaking on the occasion who told of the comfort and help and ncouragement Grandma Stockton had been to them by her consistent life and Christian influence.
