Coila T. Stinson, age 96 of Joplin, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at a local health care center.
Born November 27, 1911 in Sarcoxie, MO, she was the widow of John Marion Stinson, who preceded her in death January 17, 1996. A graduate of Sarcoxie High School, she attended Southwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Springfield. From 1936 until her retirement in 1976, she worked for Empire District Electric Co. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as past president of G.Q. Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Suzanne Stinson McAvoy of Overland Park, KS; two nieces, Sister Mary Benedict of Hawthorn, NY and Mrs. William Meier of Jacksonville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17th at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rodney Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Sarcoxie Cemetery in Sarcoxie, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
