Mrs. Alice Whitley, 76, wife of Joe M. Whitley of Fyffe route one, died in a Birmingham hospital Friday, Sept. 22. A native of Blount County, she was the daughter of the late Henley and Sally Roach Smith. Surviving besides her husband are five daughters, Mrs. Hugo Morgan and Mrs. F. F. Morrison of Birmingham, Mrs. Lyndale Goforth of Columbus, Ga., Mrs. T. M. Roden of San Diego, and Mrs. Floyd Higginbotham of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two sons, Malcolmn Whitley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Max Whitley of Oak Ridge; 14 grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday from Roebuck Chapel, Rev. George Fyffe officiating. Graveside services were held at Old Liberty Cemetery, Oneonta, at 3:30. Grandsons were pallbearers.
