It is with a sad heart that we chronicle the death of our belove deaf and dumb uncle, Asa Joseph Stephens which sad event occurred at his home one and half mile east of Oneonta on Tuesday night. He has been in bad health for nearly two years but was not thought to be in a very dangerous condition and his death was a shock to the community. He was 42 years of age and one of the best citizens of the county. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. His bereaved wife and three little children have the sympathy of the entire community.
