Catherine was the youngest child of Noel Riley McKee & Ethel Randall McKee.

Catherine McKee - Funeral services for Catherine Virginia McKee, 18, who died instantly Monday night in an automobile accident on Tenth Avenue, were held this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the chapel of Thompson's Funeral Home. The Rev. H. G. Montague officiated, assisted by the Rev. Miss Etta McCaskill. Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stubby Wells, J. L. Harveyson, Charles Stewart, Robert James, Nick Morgan and Herman Bradley.

The death of Catherine McKee, 18, in an automobile crash Monday night was the fifth death in her family as the result of automobile accidents. It was the first fatal accident in the city of Laurel for 1946.

Other fatalities in auto mishaps included Miss McKee's grandmother, Mrs. Charles Randall; and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Randall, at Eunice, La., in 1936; and another relative, Mrs. J. F. LaVigne, who was killed on Magnolia street in Laurel in 1945 when she was hit by a passing vehicle.

The accident Monday night was the fourteenth in Laurel in 1946 and it occurred on the fourteenth day of the month, an average of one accident a day for Laurel, Chief of Police Wayne Valentine points out.

Chief Valentine is urging all to drive more carefully and slower in order to help prevent traffic accidents.
