Kenneth Edward Brown, 76, of Billings passed away Friday, July 4, 2003, at Deaconess Billings Clinic.

Ken was born in Westover, S.D., on May 16, 1927. His family later moved to Murdo, S.D., where he received his education.


In 1945 he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Following his discharge in 1947, he and his brothers operated an oil and gas business. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator with union Local 400 for 31 years.


In his spare time, he was a director of the Sunnyside Water District in Billings, and he took great pride in his lawn and garden. He also loved to debate politics and economics.


He is survived by his wife Carol (Romero) Brown and his loving K-9 companion Shadow, three stepdaughters, Mary King of Phoenix, Rita Romero of Billings and Bonnie (Chris) Lucey of Canton, Conn.; three stepsons, Leonard Romero of Billings, Willard Romero of Bristol, Conn., Mel (Gladys) Colombe of Basin, MT. 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren He is also survived by his brother James Brown of Presho, SD along with many nieces and nephews in South Dakota, Montana and Louisiana.

There will be a celebration of Ken's life at 4:00 PM Sunday July 6, 2003 at the family home. Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Monday July 7, 2003 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ken's name may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1501 14 th Street West, Billings, MT 59102.
