Surviving are his wife; sons, Mike (Pat), Joe (Ann), John (Tracy) and R. Douglas (Ebony); 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Alden; one sister, Patricia McPhren; and one granddaughter, Daphne.
Joe was a brakeman/conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1964 to 1999.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
