Wife of James Franklin Godbold.

MARSHALL - Mrs. Belle Simpson Godbold, 87, died at her home on the Port Caddo Road Sunday morning at 8:30 after a long illness.

Mrs. Godbold was born October 8, 1846 in Atlanta, Georgia and moved from there to Henderson County at the age of 9, coming by boat down the Red River and landing in Shreveport when that city was only a village. She was married to J. F. Godbold in 1866 in Quitman, Texas. In 1887 she moved to Marshall and has lived in her home on the Port Caddo Road since 1893.

Mrs. Godbold joined the Methodist Church when a child. She was the mother of 4 children and reared 9 orphan children.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. T. Martin; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the family residence Nonday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
