Thomas was the oldest child of five known children born to William Oldham/Ouldham and Phillipa Sowter. He was born at All Saints Parish, Derby, Derbyshire, England. His younger siblings were John, Elizabeth, James and Lucretia. This information was taken from the church records.


On Jan. 25, 1615 Thomas married Elizabeth Rhoades at All Saints Church. They were the parents of Ann, John and Thomas. Information from church records.


In 1635, after the plague broke out again in Derby, Thomas and Elizabeth sent their sons, John and Thomas, to America to live with his brother, John. John and Lucretia had immigrated in 1623 to Plymouth, Massachusetts. The boys resided with their uncle John until his death on July 20, 1636. They then resided with their aunt, Lucretia Brewster, until they reached the age of majority.


The previous plague broke out in Oct. 1592 at his grandfather's home (William Sowter) and lasted until Oct. 1593. Information from church records.


Thomas died from the plague on June 26, 1636, the same day as his father, William Oldham/Ouldham.
