Memorial services for Lonnie Benson, age 69, of Magnet, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Magnet Community Hall in Magnet. Dave Fink will officiate, with burial at a later date.
Lonnie died Sunday, December 24, 2023, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 69 years, two weeks, and six days.
Lonnie L. Benson was born December 4, 1954, at Osmond, Nebraska to LeRoy "Pete" and Lorelei Benson. He graduated from Wausa High School in 1973 and worked as a carpenter most of his life.
Lonnie married Sharon Puntney on December 3, 1976, at Magnet, Nebraska. One daughter, Julie Marie, was born to them on May 28, 1978. She married Matthew Hehensee on August 16, 2006. A grandson, Briggs Matthew was born on May 21, 2017.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Julie, her husband Matt, and their son, Briggs; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy; mother and stepfather, Lorelei and Olin Belt; brother, Larry; sisters, Linda Benson and Lynette (Patrick) Bryant; and his grandparents.
