He enlisted at Old Canaan, Litfield Co., CT July 1776 for the CT Continental Line under the command of Joshua Stanton in the Regiment Commanded by Col. Matthew Mead and discharged in March 1777. In the Fall of 1777 he enlisted in the Militia under the command of Capt. William Bunell.
