Alta M. Stainbrook 103, Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away May 10, 2008. She was born June 1, 1904 in Greenwood, to the late Horace and Minnie Thomas Underwood Doty. Alta was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Hands and Hearts Sunday School Class and Prospect Chapter, No. 452 Order of Eastern Star. She had been employed by the Wm. H. Block Co. for 25 years as the Cash Office Supervisor, retiring in 1969. Survivors include her son, James R. (Barbara) Stainbrook, Jr., Bloomington; grandchildren, Susan Stainbrook, Indianapolis and Steven Stainbrook, New York, NY; nieces, Donna Lee Seedorf, Greenwood and Delores Kennard, New Smyrna, FL. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Margaret Stainbrook; sisters, Florence Blankenship and Marjorie White; brother, Glenn Doty and nephew, Don "Sonny" White. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, with visitation there from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 12. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial gifts have been suggested to Christ United Methodist Church.
