Mrs. Hannah Leak Hibbs was born in Appanoose county, Iowa, on November 10, 1864, and passed away on November 6, 1941, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 26 days.
She was united in marriage to James W. Hibbs of Numa on November 11, 1883 and to this union were born three children, one son, Ted Hibbs, of Numa, and two daughters, Mrs. Frances Wagler of Bloomfield and Grace May who passed away at the age of three. Her husband preceded her in death, passing away on January 24, 1930.
Mrs. Hibbs was a woman of cheerful disposition and helpful ways. She was deeply devoted to her family and served them with a self forgetfulness which will never be forgotten. She was baptized on January 19, 1896, and became a member of the Numa Christian church. She was greatly devoted to her church and enjoyed working in its behalf as long as her health permitted. She was one of the real pioneers of the Numa community and lived to see many changes in her life time. She was a friend to many in her journey through life.
She leaves to mark her passing her surviving children, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie McElwee and Mrs. Nellie Ware, one brother, Chas. Leak, three grandchildren, Jacquelin Hibbs, Nancy Jane and Lynda Sue Wagler, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held November 9, 1941, at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Numa Christian church conducted by Rev. L. D. Thomas of the Bloomfield M. E. church. Singing by Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrence of Centerville.
