Richard William Whitehead, 66, of Decatur died 5:46 p.m. Monday (Feb. 7, 1994) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery, Maroa.

Mr. Whitehead was born March 18, 1927, in Clinton, the son of Leonard and Bertha M. Cousins Whitehead. He retired from the Illinois Central RR after 40 years of service. He was a member of Mount Zion Lion's Club, Mount Zion Chamber of Commerce and a lifetime member of VFW Post 99, Decatur. He was co-owner with his wife Mary of Plaza Custard in Mount Zion and was a World War II veteran. He married Mary Belle Fenton on June 18, 1950 in Maroa, IL.

Surviving are his wife; daughter is Debra Dotson and husband Rick of Bethany; brother, Hurrell Whitehead of Clinton; two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
