Mother, Mary Miles
MATTINGLY, FRANCIS & MARY MILES (son of Edward Mattingly & Alice M. Lancaster)
Baptized Jane Mahala Mattingly, 3-03-1845, by Rev. Daniel Kelly at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Birth date, 1-31-1845. Sponsor, Ann Peterson. Parents: Francis Mattingly and Mary Miles.
George Francis Alvey married a Jane Mattingly about 1865 most likely in Marion Co, KY. It is believed that Jane was actually Mahala Jane Mattingly, dau of Francis Mattingly and Mary Miles. Shortly after their son was born and baptized, they disappeared from any KY records and are presumed to have died by 1870 or shortly thereafter but no record of them has been found on the 1870 Federal Census. Most of George's family are buried in St Francis Xavier but Jane's family are in St Charles so I have placed both George and Mahala Jane in St Charles for the present but there has been no tangible evidence to support thior burial there
