RETIRED RAIL AGENT SUCCUMBS TO STROKE
Joseph Orestes Mattingly, 71, retired Texas & Pacific Railroad Company agent, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday [February 23, 1960] at Mary Immaculate Hospital where he had been under treatment since suffering a stroke January 30 at a Bardstown hotel. A Marion County native, he spent most of his life in Louisiana, but had been at Bardstown, since last September. A son of the late Thomas William & Mary Elizabeth O'Bryan Mattingly, Lebanon. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lettie Mattingly, and a son, Daniel Christopher Mattingly, both of New Orleans; a daughter, Mrs. Don Malarcher, Shreveport, LA; and five sisters, Sister Mary John Baptist, Sister Mary Barbara, Mrs. J. Walter Keller and Mrs. George Ussery, all of Little Rock, AR, and Sister Thomas Louise of Arizona. The body is at Bosley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today at St. Charles Church by the Rev. Hubert Hagan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
